My Story
Hi, I'm Megan! Growing up, I played soccer and loved working out—even on days without practice. I credit this passion to my mom, who was, and still is, an exercise fanatic! In high school, I discovered weight training, and I instantly fell in love with the feeling of getting stronger and testing my limits. Around the age of fifteen, I first learned about macros, and it completely changed the game for me. I was fascinated by how fueling my body with the right macronutrients had a direct impact on my gym performance, and how it helped me gain better control over my cravings (I had a serious love for cookie dough and would literally eat it straight from the bowl).
I started tracking macros on and off whenever I needed to lose a few pounds or find more balance. I devoured every book, podcast, and study I could find on nutrition, especially on macros, because I was so passionate about it. Over the years, I tried nearly every diet you can think of: vegan, raw food, Whole30, paleo, keto—you name it! Through all the experimentation, I discovered one simple truth: what matters most is food quality and energy balance, not restriction. Little did I know, all that knowledge would become invaluable later on.
Fast forward a few years to the birth of my first child—I stopped paying attention to my nutrition entirely and gained 70 pounds during my pregnancy. I eventually stopped weighing myself, but once I started tracking macros again, the weight came off easily. When I got pregnant with my second child, I went through the same process, but it was slower the second time around. What I learned, though, was how crucial mindset is—not just for nutrition, but for life itself.
During this time, my two-year-old daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy that didn’t respond to medication, and our only hope was a ketogenic diet. I had just about zero support from her doctors and dietician. While they approved the diet, they only offered it as a last ditch effort and only because I brought it up. It would have been nearly impossible if I hadn’t already had all of that knowledge and experience with macros. Thanks to that, I felt empowered to advocate for my daughter’s care. Through diet alone, we successfully controlled her seizures for four years. We gradually weaned her off the diet, and now, she’s a healthy, seizure-free 9-year-old.
This experience reinforced just how powerful understanding macros can be for health and wellness. I’ve used this knowledge to help myself, my daughter, and my friends and family track macros in a way that makes nutrition both understandable and sustainable. Now, I'm here to help you do the same!
